‘A-lternative Hare Team’
In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent on a hash by accident and followed a trail that they hadn’t laid. These men promptly escaped from a false trail and made it all the way back to the bar and tankards for a spot of Old Hooky. They now hide in the outer reaches of Oxfordshire and the Banbury underground.
Known only as Preacher and Grunt… if you have a problem (and if your reading this – I suggest you do) and no-one else can help (again – reading this suggests its not looking good) and if you can find them (follow the flour and the beer) – then maybe – just maybe – you can hire the A-lternative Hare Team!
The Butchers Arms in Balscote is a Grade II listed, family-friendly Victorian country inn known for its traditional “parlour” style atmosphere and Hook Norton ales served straight from the cask. It was voted the North Oxfordshire CAMRA Pub of the Year 2023.
Preacher and Grunt are known for their seamless trail blazing, clever route setting and masterful false trails. You always have to watch out for the quiet ones they say… Well, you have to watch even harder for the quiet pair…
