The Lion, 70A High St, Waddesdon, Aylesbury HP18 0LB
Meet at 11am for the off.

Don’t forget to validate/register your car for car parking, just inside the pub on the fancy tablet/registration device. Register your car when you arrive to avoid a fine (and we’re not talking down downs).
Welcome to your next exciting installment of mud, wet grass, changeable weather and an exciting trail.
Welcome Stalker and Titfer as your hares this week – thank you for all that you do, are about to do, and/or have already done. A trail is always a beautiful thing, and beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, and all forms of mud. Joy indeed!
The Lion pub stands ready, bold and confident to take care of all those weary folks who venture into its fold. To provide food, shelter and warmth (and possibly light refreshments) to those weary travelers (aka hashers and hares). It is often praised for its Sunday roasts – which boast large portions and quality of the meat. Make of that what you will… (more tea vicar?)
Rumour has it that the first ever trail laid in Waddesdon was by the late Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild in the 1870s. He laid a trail, which went down with the locals to such a degree, that they all celebrated and built a French Renaissance-style chateau just to celebrate. If you look closely around the grounds, you can still find flour left behind from that very first trail. It’s absolutely true! It is I tell you!
There’s also another clear marker to this true fact. It was said that at one point in the hash, Baron F brought the trail to a ‘check’ with no less than 5 possible ‘ons’. What was particularly wicked, was that Baron F then laid down 5 arrows on the ground, causing maximum confusion. The ‘Five Arrows’ now marks the spot where this ridiculous mis-direction occurred. There are still people missing.
So there you have it, Waddesdon is an epicenter of hash legendry, formed of Baron’s, Lions and Five Arrows, combined with Stalker and Titfer – this is going to be epic.
If anyone is still reading this, congratulations, you have made it to the end. You are deserving of place in the circle, so circle-up! You will be an honoured guest this Sunday morning. Please wear something red to celebrate and everyone will shake your hand and buy you a drink.
Just remember to register your car, as not even the Baron F or our Hares can save you from the wicked Penalty Notice (boo!).
