The Fox Inn, Souldern, Bicester, OX27 7JW.
Meet at 11am for the off.
What do you get if you cross a Nun with a cocktail and a Fox?
Answer: A spirit(ual) visit from the RSPCA and the Pope’s ‘special’ guards? >> maybe
Or,,,, A cracking good hash on-on offer for all you crazy cats? >> absolute(ly)!
I know which one I prefer!
So, there you have it… our winning combo – the Torvill & Dean of BH3 hares.
Step aside Bonnie & Clyde. Back off Starsky & Hutch. Go back to bed Ant & Dec. Make another round around the block Postman Pat (with your black and white cat).
We’ve got what we need right here!
Now the pub this week, is old. It’s very old. Back in 1735 there was one pub in Souldern. In 1784 there were two pubs – the Bull’s Head and The Fox. In the 1850s these two pubs were joined by a third – the Crown. And then in 1939 there was only one – yep our plucky Fox, which became known as The Fox Inn was the one to prevail.
Souldern, or Sulthorn as it was originally named back in the day before Roman times – and translated to “Thornbush in a Gully” [quite at home on any given BH3 trail 😊]. It also ran and won best kept village 5 times since 1980. Whoop Whoop!
What more can I say. We’ve got the charm, the history, the makings of a great trail and the services of a great Hashing Hare duo. Well, all we need now – is a few hasers to pop along, trip up, topple over, bog up, bog down, explode or deviate from normal norms of error – to make for some fun adventures and tails of woe. Dropping right into the hands of our RAs, who will guide you safely back to the bottom of a beer glass for your efforts.
No Foxes were harmed in the making of this announcement. No Nuns were sinned or sinned against us, but cocktails may have been consumed. [oops].
I asked my AI friend, to have a few cocktails with me and then do it’s thing… that’s AI looking right ‘at ya’ kids!
